The Head of the Charles Regatta is dedicated to minimizing waste, maximizing the use of compostable materials, and ensuring a clean, enjoyable experience for all attendees.
Our commitment to sustainability is a cornerstone of our operations, and it is reflected in the sustainability pledge you agreed to as part of your contract.
To reiterate, all serviceware and packaging must be compostable (BPI certified), and any pre-filled beverages are to be sold exclusively in aluminum cans. This is not only essential for waste diversion but also aligns with our mission to eliminate single-use plastic from the event. Waste sorting stations will be strategically placed throughout the course, and volunteers will be available to help educate spectators and ensure proper waste sorting. Together, our efforts will make a significant impact, as seen in previous years when we were able to divert nearly 50% of waste from the landfill.
We kindly remind you that adhering to these standards is not just a best practice but a commitment to the sustainability pledge that each vendor has made. By complying with these guidelines, you are helping set the standard for large-scale events across the nation, reinforcing the HOCR’s reputation as a leader in sustainable practices.
Thank you again for your continued support and for playing a vital role in making the 60th Head of the Charles Regatta a green and successful event.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about the compostable serviceware or any other concerns, we are here to help!
